Brandon Lake and KB Collaborate on Remix of ‘COUNT ‘EM’

Worship singer/songwriter Brandon Lake nabbed KB for a fresh take on Lake’s song “COUNT ‘EM,” released on March 8th. The remix adds some hip-hop flair to the already powerful song.

“COUNT ‘EM,” without KB, was originally released on August 4, 2023, as part of Lake’s fourth studio album, Coat of Many Colors. The song quickly made an impact, reaching number 19 on the US Hot Christian Songs chart published by Billboard. Lake co-wrote the song with Hank Bentley and Jacob Sooter, both of whom also produced the single.

The song’s creation was inspired by an impromptu moment during a studio session with Bentley and Sooter. Lake recalled to American Songwriter, “I was at Hank Bentley’s house with Jacob Sooter working on the record when we decided to take a break and head out for lunch. Jacob struck a few chords on the Wurlitzer as we were heading out the door. I quickly was inspired and rattled off a verse idea with a fast cadence…A few hours later, we had this monster of a song that brags on who God is and all the things I’ve seen Him do.”

Lake and KB getting together is nothing new. In 2022, they released the song “Graves” together for KB’s album His Glory Alone II. It won Rap/Hip-Hop Recorded Song of the Year at the 2023 Dove Awards.

KB also opened for Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham for the Summer Nights Worship Tour in 2023.

As Lake continues to promote his album Coat of Many Colors, the remix with KB adds new life to the project and another notch in Lake and KB’s music collaborations.
