Polish Christian Rap Spotlight: Mikser ‘Logos’

It’s difficult for me to start writing this paragraph without getting sidetracked by an aspect not directly related to the album I’m describing, Mikser and his album Logos. Specifically, I’m drawn to the artist himself and the possibilities he presents in the realm of freestyle.

Mikser is by no means a typical battle MC, as his exceptional talent for rapidly delivering meaningful words, infused with wit and follow-up, earmarks him more for judge’s panels than stage duels. After all, Mikser doesn’t need to prove his skills, nor the sharpness of his punchlines, which he actually didn’t use too often. This is not about indulging his stage opponents.

Considering the entirely unparalleled class of the Polish freestyle and his skills that defy all criteria and concepts of building rhythmic syntax, he hasn’t so much failed to meet the demands of the current verbal jousting audience hungry for wordplay, as Polish freestyle lacks a category to contain Mikser’s level of talent. But let’s move on from these flattering words about a figure that is rather inconvenient for the direction of my discourse. Why inconvenient?

When presenting Logos, it’s worth paying attention to the illustration on the cover depicting, alongside the physicality of the author, a crystal held meaningfully in his hand. If this prop was meant to reflect the album’s tone, I must point out that this precious treasure has its dark side.

Logos presents itself as an emotionally crafted album, speaking to the heart, magnificent in its metaphors, and impeccable when it comes to the technical layer. In these aspects, I truly wasn’t disappointed. The video singles that showcased the best and original part of his hip-hop left an incredible impression on me. In them, the rapper revealed himself as a genuinely converted individual, thanking God for regaining health, for family, for loved ones, and artistically reflecting what we all need and aspire to.

He touched the most delicate strings, delving into intimate and personal matters, without losing the essence of rap craftsmanship, intellectual expression, symbolism, and above all, the right tone of rap delivery and chants that beautifully complement his style. The rapper accentuates words perfectly, and his diction is impeccable. The artist possesses not only an extraordinary, freestyle-defying quality but also an intriguing vocal timbre and a gift for singing.
