Christian Tabletop Role Playing Game ‘Light Raiders’ Launches on Backerkit

Many of you may have heard of Dungeons & Dragons or Vampire: The Masquerade (or maybe not) as table-top role-playing games (RPG). An easy explanation is if you ever played a console RPG game like Final Fantasy the game does all the math and storytelling for you while you press buttons. With a table-top RPG, you use pen and paper for stats and roll dice to see if your attack hits, and all the players collaborate to tell the story.

When Dungeons & Dragons was starting to get popular, author and Christian counselor Dick Wulf created ‘Dragon Raid‘. His game was an adventure Bible-based system that used scripture in addition to the collaborative storytelling element. An artist who worked on Dungeons & Dragons also worked on Dragon Raid.

Due to the Satanic-panic, when parents went off the deep end and said anything related to Dungeons & Dragons was evil it seemed Dragon Raid was canceled for good although some Christians embraced it and kept playing it. One of those Christians was James R. Hannibal and the deep learning he gained from Dragon Raid in the 1980s stuck with him through high school, college, the Air Force, and as a Christian author.

As Dick Wulf requested before he passed, James and the Light Raiders team (renamed from Dragon Raid) want to bring that learning to a new generation. Light Raiders is now live on Backerkit and has reached $8k of a $10k goal in two days.
