Eshon Burgundy on his new ‘artist support system’ NFTRY

Eshon Burgundy’s new entity named NFTRY (pronounced “infantry”) is not a record label, but rather an “artist support system,” he told Rapzilla in an interview at Legacy Conference 2016.

“I wanted to do NFTRY where we have the feel of a label. Hopefully we’ll have the same impact, the same ability to push as a label. But we’re not necessarily a record label,” Eshon said. “We’re more of a support system. We put you out there, we run you through our channels and help you get noticed more, and it’s for a very, very, very, very, super low percentage.”

In addition to Eshon, creatives currently listed on NFTRY’s roster include Jeremiah Bligen, J. Johnson, C.H.R.I.S., Kevin Mayfield (formerly known as Hothandz), Reflect and Neek Smif. The tagline of the community is “chosen, spared, delivered.”

“We believe in the Gospel,” Eshon said. “We believe that the Gospel should be something that is at the forefront of our music. We’re definitely creative artists, and we take hip hop seriously. We want to make good music at the end of the day, but at the same time, we want to make sure that our heart is included. And our heart is that people would hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and that people who already know Jesus Christ would be edified.”
