Alcott Set to Release ‘What’s A Man To Do?’

Alcott, after a slow rollout of his debut album that included a Bandcamp release and numerous single drops, is releasing the album on all DSPs on May 3rd.

“This album was written at a transitional point in my life. As someone desiring to find the way I’m best suited to serve God, I found myself overwhelmed with questions of what to allocate my energy towards. This uncertainty can feel alienating at times as it can produce questions about one’s own purpose. This album was essentially my processing of those thoughts, feelings, and questions, hence the title, What’s A Man to Do?

“The rollout has been interesting. My writing style has often been conceptual in nature in that I’ll be in a certain place in my life and everything I write will be connected by whatever that thematic thread is at the time. Because of that, I had this collection of songs that was clearly an album in my mind, but as a basically unknown artist, I’m simultaneously aware that no one cares about an Alcott album. Because of that, I felt forced in some sense to release the album almost entirely one song at a time. However, to stay true to the original vision I decided to release the full album for purchase on Bandcamp while the singles were slowly trickled out on streaming.”

Alcott is excited for more people to hear this, hoping people can relate to his honesty when creating this project.

“I hope people who are similarly searching for their God-given role/purpose in life will find the content on here relatable and encouraging. Obviously, I hope people enjoy what I do as a rapper but I also want people to recognize Jesse Calentine’s talent as a producer. He produced this whole project and I’m excited for people to hear what we were able to create together because he was an integral part of the creative process.”

Be sure to find What’s A Man To Do? by Alcott wherever you stream music on May 3rd.
