10 Christian Rap Songs That’ll Make You Cry

Everyone has been through things in their life that they may have suppressed or feel that they have overcome but then a song comes on and the waterworks start. These are 10 Christian rap songs, in no particular order that evoked different emotions, convictions, or thoughts within me. Art is made in many forms for the glory of the Kingdom. Let’s get into it!

KB – Doubts

I remember first hearing the song “Doubts” when my son was barely a one year old and I had strong doubts within myself of being a man of God. Couple that with doubts about wanting to be a good father and not knowing how to be one. I had doubts about being a good husband, doubts that maybe one day God will say, I don’t know you and cast me aside. This song brought me to tears the first time I heard it because KB conveyed it so well. It’s healthy to come to a point in our life when we are honest with ourselves and come to Jesus and say, “help my unbelief.” Mind you, KB has lots of bangers, but this one just happens to poke me right in the heart every time.

“Will I make it to the end?

Or will I fall and lose everything?

I’m trying to be a better man.

But why is there so little change.

If I’m honest.

I’m doubting, I’m doubting, I’m doubting.”

Bizzle – Royalty & Options

When the videos for “Royalty” and “Options” premiered, my first thought was of my niece and the younger women in my family and I cried watching them. Bizzle speaks of women not knowing they are royalty and prompted me to think about how I contributed to it.  Years later after hearing “Royalty” and “Options,” God woke me up from my sleep feeling grieved and brought names to mind. I began to weep and pray for two girls I had dated whom I didn’t treat like royalty. I prayed God would reveal Himself to them and bless them. Thanks for the lesson and conviction Bizzle, I would have never felt this way, unless I heard these songs.

“Dudes mess over not knowing that her soul’s crushed.

Uh, then she meets you one day.

You got two options: Be another number.

Just another ni*** that got what he wanted from her.”

J. Monty – I Am & 72 Inches

J. Monty has songs on his albums where people may overlook the skill and effort it takes to construct a thought-provoking story. J expresses his feelings and his observations of society but also excels in explaining God’s perspective and how He feels about us. I shed some tears listening to the chorus of “I Am” so I listed them below because I’m sure we’ve all felt this way. Regarding his song “72 inches” I can’t comment on it without ruining it so if you haven’t listened to it, check it out.

“Tell me can You see where I am?

I can’t even breathe where I am.

My heart is on my sleeve,

I’ve been searching on my knees,

But it’s time for me to leave where I am.

I don’t wanna be where I am.

I cannot believe where I am.”

Beautiful Eulogy – Beautiful Eulogy & Instruments of Mercy

Beautiful Eulogy speaks so profoundly about suffering and struggling. Trying to understand why God would allow it and believing that God is using our life to create who He needs us to be. When it’s our time to go, we know we will be with Him but until then we’ve got to keep pushing and not forget He knows what is better for us. When I hit rock bottom (which is often), I praise the Rock with these lyrics.

“With Your hands, play Your song.

Use my life I’m Your instrument.

Tune my heart to sing Your song.

Use my life I’m Your instrument.”

Hulvey – Washed in the Blood & Beautiful

Call it what you want, Hulvey drops some phenomenal worship tracks acknowledging God for who He is. His songs encourage me to keep looking up. “Washed in the Blood” is straight praise and helps remind me that our time on Earth is temporary and there is so much more. We will one day rejoice before the Beautiful One who made us, understands us, and saved us because He is so good.

“As I’m standing,

before the throne, yeah.

All of my pain is gone.

As I’m standing,

before the throne.

Praise You, all of my pain is gone.”

Alert312 – Masterpiece

Last but not least Alert312’s song “Masterpiece” from their last album, The Lord is Beauty caught me off guard. Per my prior article about Alert312, I became a fan after hearing them live and recently stumbled across this song from one of their online COVID-19 concerts.

This song broke me, to say the least, and you may be saying this guy cries all I time, but I don’t. Music is a blessing from God to bring us to a place of worship, to focus on Him and not our circumstances, and to correct our path when we stray. I wouldn’t be the Christian I am today without music and I’m sure the same is true for you. That’s why you’re on Rapzilla.

I honestly could make a few parts to this and keep going but I’d rather you tell us what songs hit you the hardest. Tag the Christian rap artist and the name of the song in the comments that made them invisible ninjas sneak into your room and chop up some onions.
