Lecrae Names Inmate Carmela Mose Winner of Securus Hip-Hop Track Contest [Video]

Lecrae selected 20-year+ prison inmate Carmela Mose as the winner of his Securus original track hip-hop contest. College students from Brown University combed through the entries, and Lecrae made the final pick. The beat was provided by Zaytoven.

Carmela’s story is incredibly inspirational, and Crae said it’s the only studio session he ever cried in. He helped her record the track from her prison as well.

The song will be released on streaming platforms with the proceeds going to help inmates. She also becomes the first woman to record and release a track while incarcerated.
