Da’ T.R.U.T.H. Reveals Name Change, New Album, & More on Trackstarz

Da’ T.R.U.T.H. sat down with Trackstarz for over two hours with three big announcements, the first is that the new album is completed. Trackstarz were given the album prior to the interview and they stated it covers various genres from gospel to tracks for hip-hop-heads but it is all inclusive for all listeners. He hopes that his community follows him as he explores the musicality of his sound since he is passionate about diversifying it sonically.

He also speaks in-depth about CHH artists who seem to be outside the CHH box and gives an example of seeing Mali Music perform. When “I Hate You” first came out, it didn’t fit into any category. There was also a great discussion about the CHH box, being trapped in it (which is not a bad thing), and what it takes to get out of it so that other listeners outside of CHH will acknowledge your work.

The second announcement was the name change, he would now be going by his legal name Emmanuel which means “God is with us” in Hebrew.  He details in being the Da’ T.R.U.T.H. he was aggressive and had all the answers while now that he has softened a bit more and is more nuanced and he realizes that Emmanuel has come to point on his life to observe that life is complex and that a name change is not only biblical but also part of evolving as an artist.

He re-iterates that although some things are black and white, there has to be room for the gray. He said that he feels like Emmanuel is more conversational and more diplomatic than Da’ Truth.

The third and final announcement is that the new album will be self-titled, Emmanuel since it is a personal journey for him.  Though you still may see the name Da’ T.R.U.T.H. for now, in the near future you may see his name in parenthesis until everything is transitioned through the digital service providers. When asked about people who are doing their things he acknowledged indie tribe., Aaron Cole, Hulvey, 1kPhew, KB, and Andy Mineo.

In closing, I think Emmanuel said something profound that we can all relate to.

“In the ebbs and flows of life, mountain peaks and valleys, through every circumstance God is with me resonates with more than having all the answers.”

The entire interview is almost two-hours (starts at 25:55) so if you’ve got the time check out the YouTube link at the bottom if not check out the Instagram link for a quick chat about the name change.
