Lecrae Explains How Partnership with Love Beyond Walls Hand Washing Stations Changed the World

Way back in early last year we spoke to Lecrae on Community During Chaos. One of the things we spoke about was the impact of his partnership with Love Beyond Walls. Together they provided the city of Atlanta with handwashing stations for the homeless. From there, the organization exploded.

“That thing changed the world!” Lecrae exclaimed. “People don’t even realize that and I don’t take no credit or nothing. I called my man Terence Lester [founder] because he’s been dealing with people experiencing homelessness for years. What’s going on around here…how can I be apart of it?”

Lester said he had a “couple of ideas and thoughts.”

“What if I put handwashing stations around?” said the Love Beyond Walls founder.

Lecrae thought, “That’s a dope idea!”

“Well, I don’t have the money for it,” was the reply.

Lecrae emphatically rebutted, “Well yes you do, let’s go!” Obviously, this was Crae saying he would foot the bill.

“15 handwashing stations later it made national news….Mayor is calling us, it went crazy…then other cities started calling,” the Reach Records founder said.

He continued, “My man went from 15 handwashing stations in Atlanta to 1000s all over the world. He’s on the phone with people in Australia…it’s become a thing.”

“People experiencing homelessness are you and me…just imagine you or myself, they don’t have access to clean water…Everything is closed…People were panicking.”
