Kanye West Takes Home 1st Dove Award for ‘Rap/Hip-Hop Recorded Song of the Year’

Some might be shocked, others may not be, but if the label fits, Kanye West “the Christian rapper” continues his headline-grabbing cycle by first being nominated for two Dove Awards, and next winning one.

Although he lost out to Social Club Misfits for album of the year with his Jesus is King, “Follow God” impressed the GMAs enough to give him the win for Rap Song of the Year.

Kanye beat out Andy Mineo’s “Keepin it Movin” featuring Guvna B, KB’s “Armies,” Lecrae’s “Set Me Free,” and Social Club’s “Enough.”

If Kanye sticks on the Christian music path, there could be many Dove Awards in his future. Maybe next time he’ll take home some awards in the Gospel music categories.
