Lecrae
Lecrae released his long-awaited Restoration album and we have the full coverage, the music videos, a bar exam album review, and information about the documentary.
Other Releases
Three other dope releases were Vagabond by J. Crum and Anti-Hero by Jon Keith. Both projects are amazing. Aaron Cole also released his maxi-single “Water 4 Me” and “World Series.” The songs featured Not Klyde, Parris Chariz, and Kaleb Mitchell.
Kham
Kham released what could arguably be the music video of the year with “Botham.” The video is named after the tragedy of Botham Jean, and Kham asks, “What’s a good time for a black man in America?” It’s cinematic and powerful.
Rockstar JT
We have a great interview of Rockstar JT that has him speaking about his song “Stick” and the effects he’s had on street culture with his music. He also wishes for my diversity on the radio. It’s a great convo.
5 Reasons to Leave CHH
Richard Cutright wrote an article inspired by a thread of Derek Minor tweets that talks about 5 reasons artists are leaving CHH. It’s a deep read with a lot to unpack. Some of the blame is on the audio and some are on the artist. It’s a complicated issue.
Best Year of CHH 3
We’ve got part three of 2016 being the best year for CHH. While we’ve seen the growth of Reach, RMG, God Over Money, Indies, Collision Records, in this installment we’ll see the rise of the 4 Horsemen battle rappers, a fresh new school, indie tribe, and veterans dropping. Let us know what you think.
CDC
Finally, on Community During Chaos, we continued the conversation with Kham, Aklesso, and Wande and spoke about how we can do better in our communities.
