In recent years, Kanye West has been the target of criticism due to his bipolar disorder. Many remember his delusional rants at a Los Angeles concert in 2016 that sent him straight to the hospital. Others recall controversial statements made during his 2020 presidential campaign. The media never ceases to cite manic episodes in both his public and private lives. Sadly, many Christians are often the attackers of the celebrity and execute harsh judgments against him. They look to his crazed actions as justification for slander and gossip within church communities. Some even call this kind of backstabbing holy and […]
Being a musician has become far more complicated since it has been industrialized. There has always been a spectrum of those who purely create art expressing themselves through music (artists) and those who simply endeavor to use their musical talents to shock and amaze (entertainers). Historically, it would seem as though there’s always been a fine line between the two because through different time periods the demand and appreciation for “art” has evolved. A few months back Selah the Corner was a guest on Community During Chaos. During the time of his interview, he had just completed something he was calling “Verses 4 Nurses.” Essentially, Selah was dropping feature verses and giving the full proceeds to those on the frontlines of COVID-19 in Queens, NY. “When something crazy happens you either have a choice of yielding to the chaos or leaning on the God of order. And God will be glorified through the order that’s operating in your life despite the chaos. You grab on what you control and you move something,” he […]
A few months back WWE personality Josiah Williams was a guest on Community During Chaos. At that time he had just been furloughed from his dream job at the company (he’s back now). The rapper and host spoke about the racial injustice in the country and his experience with COVID-19. Toward the end of the interview, he was asked whether he’s ever “found it harder to gain opportunities” as an African American. He didn’t have one example of anyone outright denying him because of that reason, but it didn’t take too much imagination for him to figure out why. Many […]
