The sequel to Marvel Studios’ first female-led film, Captain Marvel is officially in development.
Marvel Studios/Disney has its eyes on releasing the film sometime in 2022. Brie Larson will return as Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers. The director team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will not be returning to helm the movie. Marvel is currently looking for a female director to assign to the project and work with WandaVision scribe, Megan McDonnell who will be writing the film.
The only story info that’s known so far is that the plot will move from the 1990s time period to the present day. However, even that isn’t very specific given the five-year time jump in Endgame and the fact that the movie is still two years away from release.
More details will surely leak as the movie moves forward in the process.
