TobyMac’s Son Truett Passes Away at 21-Years-Old
It is with heavy hearts that we have learned of the passing of Truett McKeehan, TobyMac’s son. The young and aspiring artist affectionately known as “truDog” was only 21-year-old. He was found dead in his home and Wednesday morning.
“Cause of death has not been determined. Toby was traveling back from Canada and did not get home to be with his family until after midnight last night so there is no statement. We just ask that everyone please be respectful of their privacy during this time and allow them to grieve their loss,” reported USA Today.
The McKeehan family is requesting privacy at this time as they mourn the loss of Truett who was also a big brother to four siblings.
TobyMac is one of the largest Christian artists ever. He first started as the rapper in the pioneering Christian group Dc Talk. He then carved his own lane as a solo artist experimenting with hip-hop, pop, rock, and reggae.
Over the years, Toby and his son have collaborated on almost every one of his albums. Here are some of those tracks:
Lastly, the song “Scars” off of TobyMac’s album The Elements is about their relationship as adults.
Please pray for TobyMac and his family at this time.
