So things are getting interesting and we need to talk about it. Kanye West has been trending all weekend with his album “Jesus is King.” There are millions of people talking about Jesus Being King which is pretty amazing. Also, on Friday, Kanye’s Sunday Service did a live stream where incredible gospel music was played and midway through a pastor gave a complete and amazing sermon. I can already see the slews of comments coming against this, and maybe you’re right, BUT, something’s happening through Kanye and people are being affected. He’s encroaching our space, how are we going to receive him?
We interviewed Rhyan Lamarr, director of the film Canal Street and the creator of “Better Days” with 1K Phew. If you’ve seen the short film, you know that it follows the story of Phew’s character through some life or death situations. Well, this film is just the beginning of a 10 film CHH cinematic universe. The craziest part is that Lamar said if you think of the rapper you’d like to see become a part of the story, they are probably in the upcoming films.
“Andy Mineo, KB, and Social Club were out in the O.C. Around that time Ruslan and John Givez were there too. I brought out execs and their mouths were wide open. Of course, they wanted to figure out how to make money off of this.” He continued, “How many bottles of liquor do you see? How many blunts do you see? Nothing is here, this is a sober crowd going hard for Christ. Tell me if Drake can do that to a sober crowd?”

When Reach Records dropped their Summer Nineteen playlist last year, it featured many familiar artists but one name probably stood out to listeners: Hulvey, who contributed the fifth track “Motions.” It ended up being one of the most popular songs on the consortium and four singles and a few guest spots later, Reach Records unveiled him as their newest signee. The Brunswick rapper went right to work, dropping Prelude and BRKNHRT. He spoke about the Brunswick music scene, how family support shapes his music and more details about his debut album. What does being named a Rapzilla Freshman mean to […]
On April 3, 2020, Lecrae went live to perform some songs from home, due to his canceled shows because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) national pandemic. While he played/performed his 2017 tracks “Broke” and “I’ll Find You” from All Things Work Together, Lecrae previewed three brand new songs from his upcoming album Restoration. The first song he played was “Wheels Up” featuring California-based singer Marc E. Bassy. The track was previewed back on April 2, 2019, and was known as “Seats Back.” The track originally featured Atalanta-based Abe Parker, but his part was replaced by Marc E. Bassy. It’s also produced by Epikh […]
I don’t know about you, but in this season of social distancing, I’ve found solace in Christian rap. Last month it was really cool for me to share some artists I’ve been listening to recently, so I hope you enjoy this as well. I share a video as well as a Spotify link for each artist because the goal is for the music to get to your ears ASAP, and then provide something for you to go deeper. It’s my pleasure to point you to someone who may become a new favorite for you this month! Aasha Marie A lyrical […]
I had a chance to chat with Kurtis Hoppie last week. It was a terrific conversation. I’m excited about all that’s happening through Kurtis and One Vision Army. We started with some small talk. He grew up in Las Vegas, where I now live. It’s always good to have common ground with people. Then we got into his goals with his music. KH – I went through a season of wanting to go out and find myself. I don’t want to live off of someone else’s formula if God’s putting other things on my heart. I’ve always had a heart […]
Diomer was indecisive about releasing “Get With The Love” for a long time, but he finally let it fly. “I’ve had the footage to ‘Get With The Love’ in the vault for almost two years. We shot it in the fall of 2018 and this song has been on my SoundCloud page since 2017. In light of everything going on right now, I thought it would be dope to put this together and share it. I’m glad I waited because I’m better at editing now, but I held onto this for a while because I got too in my head […]
“Good Thing” by Ian Kenville and MrGalaxy praises the wins, “shows love to those who got me here,” and dreams of a future that’s great. Sometimes its too easy to focus on what’s next that we don’t enjoy the blessing in the now. “On a trip through Philly, me and my close friend Joe recorded a video of us stepping outside of work, music, and the day to day to just spend time together as brothers. We hit the Rocky Steps, enjoyed the 76ers, and just made memories.” Watch Ian Kenville Below: Buy here.
