NF Tops Chance the Rapper on Charts
Last week, our writer Ed wrote an opinion piece on why Chance the Rapper would edge out NF on the Billboard charts on Friday. He said while NF’s fans are mighty, Chance has the whole mainstream behind him. Well, sorry Ed, but you were wrong at least for day one! NF debuted at the No. 1 Billboard spot with The Search and Chance’s The Big Day was No. 2. NF may have benefited from a midnight release while Chance didn’t release until later on in the morning. Regardless, it’s a numbers game – so congrats to NF.
1K Phew & Tobe Nwigwe Get Placements on NB2K20
The largest NBA video game series 2K, is celebrating 2K20. The series has always had great music and this year’s soundtrack you’ll see tracks by 1K Phew and Tobe Nwigwe. Phew has the song “We Did It” with WHATUPRG and Tobe has “I’m Dope.” This is a great placement for these guys!
5ive and Torey D’Shaun
We had a great interview with 5ive by Zach Lee. 5ive opened up about being real when talking about past struggle, addictions, and vices. The more open you are the more people can find hope.
Then, Luc DiMarzio had a great interview with 2019 Freshmen Torey D’Shaun. Torey spoke about getting the call to be on the Reach Records Summer 19 playlist. He also spoke about what he’s working on, working on a tour with Jackie Hill Perry, and the St. Louis hip-hop scene.
In conclusion, don’t forget to check out all of our playlists featuring the top tracks that dropped on Friday. Start with the Rapzilla Playlist and work your way down. Remember to check out the Christian Rap Mix and Pandora and the best indie artists and tips on NewH2O.com.
