Every Tuesday since January 1st, 2019, J. Monty has been blessing listeners with his “Testify” freestyles. Monty stated in an Instagram post that he “retired from rap to Testify” because “rap is a profession..but TESTIFY is a profession of faith, & I refused to let my occupation influence my convictions.”

Fans who tuned in to J. Monty’s Instagram every Tuesday since witnessed a buffet of bars that were as clever as they were convicting. Regardless of his subject matter, one thing was clear from the comment section of every “Testify” video: people wanted these raps in album form. Those wishes have been fulfilled as just yesterday Monty released Testify: Season 1 which feature all twelve of his raps.

The album reached the #10 spot on Top Hip Hop/Rap Albums chart on iTunes.

2019 began & I announced that I retired from rap to Testify. Then I proceeded to “rap” more than I ever have. Why? Because Rap is a profession..but TESTIFY is a profession of faith, & I refused to let my occupation influence my convictions. This is why I say “I don’t rap, I Testify”. Now Listen, Ima be honest with y’all. I got on these charts to see if I was in the top 100, and I honestly didn’t even expect to be there at all…but y’all got me top 20 on iTunes???? This might be small to some, but….for me to drop this announcement out of nowhere….after 3 AND A HALF YEARS WITH NO PROJECT OUT….for y’all to believe in me like this……..I’m on the floor right now…crying out to God with gratitude. Y’all have truly changed my life!!! & IF YOU KNOW WHAT I BEEN THROUGH TO GET HERE YOU UNDERSTAND WHY THIS MEANS EVERYTHING!!! #TESTIFY
