It’s been a while since KJ-52 went full class clown. but now you have something to be thankful for on Thursday. Mr. Five-Two dropped a collaborative Christmas album with producer Spechouse called, Mostest Wonderfullest Time of the Year.
Here’s what KJ had to say about it…
My very first Christmas album! While spending years growing up in Florida it’s always been a challenge to get into the Christmas spirit. When it’s 85° out/sunny and the middle of December it can be hard to get into the Christmas mindset. This is probably the reason why I’ve never done a Christmas album till now… so for this project, I figured the best thing I can do is write about what I know.
I got the opportunity to team up with a good friend and producer spec house to create this entire project. It runs the gamut of ridiculous to serious, all the while chronicling the story of a man named Dave stuck on a terrible vacation in Florida. In a lot of ways, it’s a throwback to my earlier albums where I wasn’t afraid to be deathly serious and ridiculously over-the-top.
I had so much fun making this album, it was probably the easiest record I’ve ever made in 20 years. If you’ve ever been frustrated by shopping, your kids, or the craziness that goes into the holiday season this album is for you! Conversely, at its core, it is still very much about the reason for the season: Jesus.
It’s the perfect album to put on as you get ready for your holiday season…I hope you get as much joy out of it as I got to make it.

Kanye West brought the music and hope of Jesus is King to Harris County Jail in Houston, Texas on Friday. West and his team set up two secret performances at the San Jacinto building for a group of 200 men and the second for a smaller group of women at the Baker Street jail, according to the Houston Chronicle. Kayne’s team had to do some smart planning with little notice. They called Sheriff Ed Gonzalez Wednesday to ask if they could set up the shows. He agreed. West walked around shaking hands and hugging inmates. He appeared in his element, […]
Wande and Byron Juane were two of the performers at Rapzilla’s Light Work Event at A3C in Atlanta. The two of them engaged the crowd in their own way and Wande even brought on the dancers! Our photographer for the week, Barry E. Daly took some of these amazing photos.
Speech Thomas is a legend in hip-hop. He is the head of classic hip-hop band Arrested Development who’s smash single “Tennesee” was rocking clubs and radio back in 1992. They were even chosen to pen a track for Spike Lee film ‘Malcolm X’. We had a chance to chat with the long-time artist, and here’s what he had to say. What do you think the key to your longevity has been? Passion. That’s really the key and being willing to fail a lot. Arrested Development just came off a European tour where you did 25 dates in 30 days. How […]
On August 23, Andy Mineo released a musical-podcast hybrid called Work in Progress. The project is unlike any released by the artist before, compiling several unreleased tracks into a single release with a podcast series used to create additional conversation. Whereas Mineo’s earlier releases accounted for a single season, Work in Progress gives listeners a more complete display of Mineo’s artistic evolution. Whether it be the fear of aging, a celebration of marriage, or musical experimentation, the album is a thematic feast and might be Mineo’s most powerful project yet. Perhaps the most crucial element of Work in Progress is […]
NF recently sat down for a conversation with Ill Will at NME.com this week. Being someone who tends to be pretty vulnerable on the mic, NF found some space here in front of a camera to be real. Considering himself to be a quite negative person and preparing for the worst, NF says he finds it thrilling that he outsold Chance The Rapper’s debut album ‘The Big Day’ in the first week of sales with his new album The Search. Nate also shares how his perception changes the older he gets. He looks back on the song How Could You Leave Us […]
Thomas Iannucci has partnered with up and coming rap & pop artist Montythehokage to release their new single, “Take Me Back,” featuring the Kapa’a Middle School Choir. Produced by veteran hip hop producer and emcee J. Crum, “Take Me Back” is a catchy, soulful tune that finds Iannucci reminiscing about the “good old days,” like the times spent out at the beach, or having dinner with his extended family, while Monty, backed by the local Kapa’a middle school choir, croons about wanting to go back to those days. It is both a unique snapshot of a life spent in Hawaii, […]
