Many of you have been seeing the name Tekashi 6ix9ine all over the news and are either following or have no idea what’s going on. Regardless, his enigmatic profile has propelled him to the top of talking points, and there’s a pastor/rapper who thinks everyone should show 6ix9ine some grace and mercy.

For those of you who don’t know, Daniel “6ix9ine” Hernandez is a multi-platinum, 10x Billboard charting rapper who has been the top rising artist of this year. 6ix9ine’s new album DUMMY BOY released yesterday and features big names like Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Tory Lanez, and Lil Baby. It’s currently charting #1 on multiple platforms.

His stardom is somewhat attributed to a multiple feuds he’s had in the hip-hop world surrounding beef with artists like Trippie Redd and Chief Keef and number of legal issues have put him in the spotlight.

Most recently, he is currently facing a possible lifetime in prison due to racketeering charges, gang affiliations, and a slew of other crimes. He is not eligible for bail until September 2019 when the trial starts.

Pastor Cliford Gray has a relationship with the young controversial star. He has gone on to defend the rapper, but not condone his behavior. Read his post below:

A lot of people will prey on you but won’t ever pray for you. A lot of people will judge you but never love you and this was no different for me when I was out there gang banging. I’ve been getting a lot of text, dm’s and emails about the #Tekashi69 situation and I wanted to address it here so you all can hear my heart. The reason I stood up for #6ix9ine is because I was 6ix9ine. I was the class clown, I was that annoying kid who ran with a gang and said a lot of wild things that could’ve gotten me killed so many times, I was going to be sentenced to #Rikers for 3-15 years but God gave me a second chance so who am I to judge people who are doing the things I did at one point. I do not condone any violence or ungodly acts whatsoever so don’t think that just because I pray for someone that that means I agree with all that they do but the truth of the matter is there are many #6ix9ines_ in the world just without the fame, millions of dollars and the platform. This hurts me because it reminds me of #bobbyshmurda ‘s situation who banged with a lot of dudes from my hood ( #FREEDA9 ) but this is a cycle that many artist has fallen into #guccimane #ti #kodakblack #youngthug #tayk and so many more but when that life is all you know it’s almost impossible to escape. So my prayers are with #Tekashi #shottie #tr3yway and all the families affected by all of this. I’m praying for his daughter more specifically and hoping for the best. #free6ix9ine and I mean that spiritually, emotionally and mentally even behind bars. #HipHopPastorGray 🙏🏾

The pastor and rapper also says he was formerly a member of the GS9 Gang. This is the same gang that another incarcerated rapper, Bobby Shmurda, was in. Gray is calling for Bobby’s release as well. Shmurda was sentenced to seven-years n prison in 2014.

UPDATE: Cliford says, “I was never a part of the GS9 crew but many of them and GSC gang are my brothers. They were actually part of the younger guys who were running around the hood while I was banging but I am a Crip from the 9 who ran the streets with their OG’s and big homies.”

Back on October 30th, another man of the cloth, Bishop Lamor M. Whitehead posted a video with 6ix9ine saying he’s a “God-fearing man.” He also claimed to be the rapper’s bishop. Watch the clip below:

The same Bishop can be seen in the background of this clip on WorldStar.

The Bishop also has a bunch of videos of Tekashi on his Facebook page. Some of them include the 22-year-old artist in service participating. Check out those clips here.

So as these men of God stand up for the character of Tekashi 6ix9ine, unfortunately, his fruit indicates otherwise. Hopefully, all this talk of him being a changed man is true and he can use this experience to proclaim his faith. For now, we are left to wait for the trial.
