Music: Benjamin Rea – Vibe

Listen to Benjamin Rea’s song “Vibe” from his new album Let Me Talk available now.

“While I was making this song, I felt like I had so many people in my life trying to tell me how to live. Even on a day-to-day basis, it felt like people were always trying to ruin the good mood or “vibe” I was in that day. It used to bother me. Then I realized; I’m a child of God. I get to wake up everyday and have the chance to pursue the calling God’s put on my life. So, if anyone should be walking around with a vibe that no one can steal, it should be me. Us. Children of God.” Benjamin said.

One part of the songs says, “I’m in this thing with Jesus, we gon’ kill it, yeah. I think I heard some talk, I’mma end it, yeah. Homie, you can live your faith on the internet. How bout you take it to the streets though?”

I wrote this before all this “beef” rose up in CHH. I’m not taking any sides and I don’t want to continue the talk, but this part touches on the recent conflict. If we focused on going out in real life and witnessing to and discipling real people, we would be less focused on our social media image and the social media image of others. And if we did that witnessing and discipling, it would show through our actions. In real life, our social media, and our music.

I’m not praying for the genre, I’m praying for the individuals that make up the genre. Like 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 says, we are all a part of the body of Christ. Not all body parts operate the same way, but they all need to work together to be truly effective.
