Joey Jewish is getting ready to release his new EP The Vantes Project on May 11th and spoke to Rapzilla about what he’s got going on with the record.

“Vantes” is a play on Joey’s last name, Cervantes. According to Joey, you already know the “Jewish” side of him and now he’s introducing the Latin side. Perhaps it is also hinting at a possible name shift of Joey beginning to use his birth name as an artist.

The record features seven tracks and is what Joey is calling a “summer EP.” In fact, initially the project was being called a lifestyle playlist, and Joey curated sounds that everyone could vibe to. This could possibly mean there’s another EP in the works that may have been split up from The Vantes Project.

“It taps into the Latin side of things, West Coast, trying to bring those vibes back. Trying to create a new sound of the West Coast with that new school vibe to it,” said Joey of the sounds of the EP. “It digs deeper into some of my past.”

He shared that when he was younger, his uncle would buy classic cars and fix them up. He would go to car shows and do outdoor cook outs with a car club. This very West Coast “cruising down the street in my 64” is quintessential California culture.

“I want to spread positive vibes by providing a summertime anthem,” he stated.

Joey said this project was “long overdo” and is already confirmed for airtime on Power 106 L.A. He also recently got love from a crowd while opening for the Migos. “To get into a place where I can rock a stage and share my faith and everyone be cool with it is amazing,” he shared. “I love Jesus and I’m not afraid to express that.”

Most of what has been taking Joey awhile to come out with new music is an increase in record label interests. The artist said he was courted by a few, had some offers, but is ultimately sticking it out on his own with his team for now.

The grind never stops, and next month Joey is hitting the road with Ruslan, hitting major cities such as L.A., NYC, Houston, and Toronto.

Joey Jewish premiered his new music for the track “64” on Rapzilla.com today.
