Rapzilla.com’s 15 Freshman of 2017

Montell Fish

One of the youngest members of this year’s Freshman class is also one of the most versatile.

Two free albums in the last year and a half have helped Montell Fish float onto quite a few fans’ radars. The Pittsburgh-based, teen artist/producer followed up his Christian debut, SomewhereintheForest/Reading The Bible, this past August with a project which featured John Givez, Levi Hinson and Shiwan, As We Walk Into Forever.

When did each of you decide that you wanted to pursue music?

I decided I wanted to seriously in 2014 when I was a secular rapper. I was gaining some buzz online, and eventually I deleted mostly all that after I gave my life to Jesus — just so people wouldn’t be confused, but I still had the heart and passion for music.

What has been the most memorable moment of your careers so far?

The most memorable moment was writing my album, As We Walk Into Forever. Man, I went through ups and downs with relationships, being uncomfortable in God and, ultimately, resulting in being drawn closer and walking toward forever (or heaven).

What should fans be on the lookout for musically from you in 2017?

For 2017, I have the part two to my album that dropped last year As We Walk Into Forever, and the EP is called As We Run Into Forever. I just released a single with fellow Christian artist K¥NG.
