Street Hymns on mentoring artists with the nonprofit 2 Talented

In addition to being a recording artist and battle rapper, Street Hymns is also a mentor and small group leader for 2 Talented, a Dallas-based nonprofit founded by Jahmaol Clark.

“We want to take kids who are already pursuing hip hop and say, ‘Alright, we’ve had mistakes in pursuing the hip-hop culture lifestyle or pursuing a career in music and hip hop, and we’re still making those mistakes,” Street Hymns told Rapzilla at Legacy Conference 2016. “But learn from our mistakes, and not only that. Learn with us in our triumphs… We basically are discipling young rappers to disciple other young rappers.”

2 Talented students include Rapzilla 2016 Freshman Adrian Stresow.

The meaning of the name 2 Talented is inspired by Matthew 25:14-30, when Jesus told the parable of the talents.

“We’re saying that we have been given 2 Talents (opportunities to steward our gifts for the glory of God, to share the Gospel, and to make disciples) and are “too talented” to waste the opportunities God has given us,” the official website of 2 Talented reads.
