Danny Gokey Proclaims What ‘Unashamed Doesn’t Mean’

Former “American Idol” alum, Danny Gokey, spoke to Rapzilla at the 2015 Dove Awards about his upcoming Christmas album, his favorite Christian rapper, and what it means to be unashamed.

Gokey admitted he wasn’t really into Christian hip-hop, but threw some love Lecrae, Andy Mineo, and Tedashii’s way.

However, he did have a great response when asked about being unashamed.

“I tell you what it doesn’t mean,” Gokey said. “It doesn’t mean that we disconnect from the world that needs the gospel…I feel like a lot of times the church, we like to take this unashamed and throw it in people’s faces and create a wall. Unashamed is how Jesus did. Hit them with love first and then you get the gospel to them, which brings the healing and restoration that they need.”
