A member of JustHis League Music Group, Phresh, releases his solo debut track “Black and Blue” which provides a unique perspective on the daily life of a black police officer and communicates the internal conflict that goes on in his mind.
“Highly publicized events and police brutality claims over the past few years has made the relationship between law enforcement and the black community extremely difficult, so difficult that Phresh (who happens to be a police officer) says: “I often think to myself: Am I making a difference? Do I want to do this anymore?” He goes on to state: “Cases like Mike Brown, Laquan McDonald, Tamir Rice are just a few examples that stirs these emotions inside; and has me to wonder if I am on the right side of the line?”
With organizations such as Black Lives Matter, it’s clear that Phresh is not alone in his concerns; However, Black and Blue is a song that is viewed from Phresh’s personal lens. He makes it clear that the track displays all aspects of his life as a believer of Jesus, father, brother, black male, artist and police officer.”
