Here’s what he said about the track: “The intent of the song is to go against the narrative that we as young black men weren’t meant to live past the age of 21 due to the drug pandemic and violence within our communities. It was one thing to hear Trip Lee and his song “You Got It” on the Reach Records summer playlist, but now to see him is different. The video, shot by Dust Brand Films, shows Lee back like he never left. He’s put through a series of conventional hip-hop tropes of a fancy whip, drugs, drip, and even an interrogation scene with Lecrae.
