Grammy-winning producer J.R. changes stage name

If you wondered why long-time Thi’sl collaborator J.R. wasn’t listed in the production credits of his upcoming mixtape Heavy is the Head, it’s because the Grammy Award-winning producer changed his stage name.

J.R. will now go as Courtney Orlando (his real name is Courtney Orlando Peebles).

“I love J.R., and that will always be my nickname, but as a business name, it was very hard to find my bodies of work when searching the World Wide Web,” Orlando said. “Hundreds of J.R.’s would pop up, making it almost impossible to find me. Plus, it’s my government name and fits the season of life I’m in as a creator and artist. It’s taking some getting used to, but I’m totally fine with it!”

As J.R., Orlando had produced for a multitude of top Christian hip-hop artists, including Lecrae, Andy Mineo and Da’ T.R.U.T.H. On Heavy is the Head, Orlando is featured on and produced track No. 10, “Lean on Me,” and he produced and performed his own song which will be included on the project, track No. 9, “Brother.” On Friday, he released the following behind-the-scenes video of the song’s recording process.
