Dirty Rice edges Lecrae for most nominations at 2015 Dove Awards for Christian hip hop

While Lecrae led all artists with seven 2015 Dove Award nominations, multiple producers — including one from Christian hip hop — contributed to even more music that is up for honors.

Dirty Rice, who won Rapzilla’s 2013 Beat Battle, received four nominations as a producer. He helped produce Derek Minor’s Empire, KB’s Tomorrow We Live and Lecrae’s Anomaly, which were nominated for Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year. In addition, Dirty Rice is up for Producer of the Year with Joseph Prielozny for their work as the production duo COBRA.

Dirty Rice also received another four nominations as a writer. Under his real name, Chris Mackey, he earned credit for his contribution to Derek Minor’s “Who You Know,” KB’s “Sideways” and Lecrae’s “All I Need Is You” and “Messengers.”

Here is a full list of Christian hip-hop nominations at the 2015 Doves.
