CTF Records Disbands

Miami-based label CTF Records, formerly home to Serge, Oscar Urbina and Authentik, has disbanded.

“Throughout the years, our label has experienced success and failures, but through it all, we have learned through experience that it is best for us to take a different route to continue pushing music to the Christian hip-hop community,” former co-owner Manny Mill said.

Since its inception in 2012, CTF (Conform to Facts) had released four projects — Groans Before Glory (Gb4g) – Authentik by Authentik, Finally by Urbina, Off Season by Serge and Rebranded.

CTF primarily dissolved due to a lack of time and resources available to serve its artists. Mill will continue to manage Serge and Urbina, who will proceed to function as independent artists. Both of them released statements about the change through the label.

“My time with CTF has been an amazing experience and I’m grateful for the many memories and relationships that were forged,” Serge said. “I have personally seen my growth as an artist and as a Christian man under the guidance and influence of CTF. This decision has been carefully soaked in prayer and made through the counsel of wise men.”

“My time with CTF was a growing experience and I’m so thankful for the friendships that I have made with my time in the label,” Urbina said. “I was immediately accepted as family from the moment I walked in and became a part of it. I’m excited to see what happens next in this new chapter as I pray for God’s beautiful guidance.”

Serge and Urbina made noise in 2014. They both released free albums, Serge wrote the hook of “Timepiece,” track No. 7 on Lecrae’s album Anomaly and Urbina won Rapzilla’s 16 Bar Challenge at Legacy Conference in Chicago this past summer. The artists and label requested prayer as they move forward.

“Thank you to all who have supported and invested into us, and have become family throughout the years,” Mill said. “Please continue to support Oscar and Serge as they venture in this new season.”
