Recap: Lecrae performs at Atlanta’s A3C Hip Hop Festival

Last night Lecrae added another important moment to his ever expanding resume by performing at Atlanta’s A3C Festival (October 3rd). The Atlanta resident performed at the festival’s BET Music Matters stage on the same bill as Rapsody, MMG’s Meek Mill, Questlove of The Roots, A$AP Ferg, Problem, and many other hip-hop mainstays.

The Reach Records emcee sent the standing-room-only crowd into a frenzy with his energetic performance that featured songs from his Grammy Award winning album “Gravity” as well introducing the crowd to some new material from his upcoming highly anticipated “Church Clothes 2” mixtape.

As the final act before the closing performance of the night by Meek Mill, the crowd and event hosts alike were overwhelmed by not just talent on the mic but also the content of his songs. Even though they noticed his energy and talent, they also noticed the Christ focused content of his songs. Neither of which seemed to turn off the standing-room-only crowd in ATL’s Terminal West. The event’s host even humorously quipped after Lecrae’s performance, “I bet y’all scared y’all going Hell now huh?!” Though Hell is no laughing matter, it was an obvious nod to the emcee’s authentic representation of his faith while bringing some good hip-hop music. And while being sandwiched between Problem (with a surprise feature from Young Dro) and Meek Mill, it seems like the faith Lecrae presented was well placed and seemingly well received.

Be on the look out soon for more updates regarding the release of Church Clothes 2. You can also check here and get your copy of the first installment of the Church Clothes mixtape.

Steven is Christian Hip-Hop's Wizard of Oz, breaking more unsigned talent than anyone you know.
