Epic Partnership Brings Early Christian Alternative Music to New Audiences
In a groundbreaking deal along with partner Central South Distribution, Syntax Distribution acquires digital distribution rights for the trailblazing Frontline Records (est. 1986), which will include the imprint labels Intense Records, Alarma! Records, and MYX Records. For the first time ever, the early music of this popular label will now be available for download. The deal introduces a new generation to Christian music’s pioneers of rock, hip-hop, and pop. “This is very significant for Christian Music,” says Tim Trudeau, President of Syntax Distribution. “These titles include music from Gospel Gangstas, Insyderz, Jon Gibson, D-Boy, P.I.D., and so many more. I’m excited to get these songs back out to the fans.”
“Having Syntax as our digital distributor is a perfect fit,” says Adel Meisenheimer, President of Meis Music Group, administrator of the catalog. “Tim Trudeau and his team have been fans of Frontline artists since the label’s inception. Our mission at Meis Music Group is to serve Frontline, KMG and Damascus Road artists, and writers. Syntax is vital to that mission.”
Syntax will distribute the titles digitally, while Central South will handle the physical distribution. Vice President of Central South Greg Davidson notes that this deal allows the distribution company to “be a source for catalogs like this to ensure that this still relevant music is made available at affordable prices to the artist’s fan base.”
From the late ’80s to the early ’90s, Frontline Records was among the first alternative Christian labels of its kind, housing artists such as The Altar Boys, Christafari, Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad and Benny Hester.
