City Takers is a well-known ministry in Atlanta, GA. Fulfilling the mission to love a city, draw a city, and build a city through various outreaches. Pastor Scott Free seeks to raise up urban missionaries who transform cities through hip hop, love, and Jesus. A story known by very few is that when Hulvey was six years old, he and his parents while living in Elijay GA, would drive down to Atlanta to serve with Scott and his missions team, even before City Takers was established. Fast forward 14 years later, before Hulvey moves to Atlanta, his parents suggest he […]
The Social Club Misfits tour came to Atlanta and believe me when I tell you it was lit. Reach Records artist Hulvey opened the show and did songs from his ep’s Prelude and BRKNHRT. Tommy Royale kept the energy going with a super exciting set. Social Club closed the night and completely shut it down doing various songs including everything from “Pizza Party” all the way up to “Everytime.” Marty also mentioned that some of the songs they were doing had never been performed live before. Check out these pics from the show.
The Family Ties Tour featuring nobigdyl., Canon, Steven Malcolm, Kurtis Hoppie, and King Chav made its stop in Atlanta, Ga last night. Co-Heir Collective opened up the show with a high energy performance. Kurtis Hoppie kept the vibes going and the host of the night, DJ Mykael V kept the crowd engaged. King Chav performed songs from his newly released project The Leftovers. Steven Malcolm performed “Fuego” and other songs from his album The Second City. In the middle of his set, he offered a heartfelt prayer for Juice Wrld’s family and friends in light of the artist passing away […]
Uzuhan, Phil J., Kurtis Hoppie & Swaizy all performed at the Light Work event at A3C. It was great to see these underrated artists kill it for a big audience. Swaizy made it on the bill last minute after winning the Critique Friday session. It was great to see these highly underrated artists in the same spot. Our photographer for the week, Barry E. Daly took some of these amazing photos.
Aklesso, V. Rose, and Parris Chariz were three of the performers at Rapzilla’s Light Work Event at A3C in Atlanta. The three of them did their thing at the show. Aklesso was an uncontained ball of energy while V. Rose added a well-needed change of pace to the hip-hop fest. Parris moved about the stage with his signature style and appeared with a few other artists later on too. Our photographer for the week, Barry E. Daly took these amazing photos.
The unexpected passing of Christian rap legend Mr. Solo of the Gospel Gangstaz has rocked the CHH community. It has also rocked his family and what better way for the community to celebrate a life together than supporting those left behind. A bereavement fund was set up for the family of Mr. Solo by ThirdDae Da Mouthpiece. Christian Rap has come a long way since 2010. During that year, Derek Minor was still Pro, DJ Official was alive and well with Reach Records, and the Unashamed Movement was blossoming. While 2010 was a relatively quiet year for releases, there were a few notable ones. DJ Official – Entermission This is the only album the deceased DJ released. Official gathered the biggest upcoming names in CHH at the time with Lecrae, Flame, and Sho Baraka. RIP DJ Official. Notable Tracks: “Show Off,” Get Busy,” and “On My 116” Listen Here. PRo – Redemption Now known as Derek Minor, […]
Laila Mickelwait is a woman with a purpose. She is determined, relentless, prepared, and diligent with her goals. She is someone who doesn’t just think, she acts and executes. The most incredible part is this drive and work ethic isn’t for her personal gain – it’s for the gain of tens of thousands without a voice and ability to get it done themselves. *Warning sensitive material* Mickelwait has made it her life’s mission to fight against sex trafficking and the exploitation of women and young girls. One of the obstacles standing in the way of a path to justice is […]
Wande was making connections and making moves. She’s traveled down quite a long number of roads to get to this point. Each stop has been an exit to her life with a destination turning point. That is where part one of this two-part trip with Wande ended. She was interning with Rapzilla and her knowledge in the space helped her get noticed by Reach Records for an internship. This next move would be the biggest one of Wande’s life thus far – it’s time to take the Atlanta exit. The young artist in pursuit of some musical action was stuck […]
Last week we took a deep dive into Lecrae and his journey of restoration. The rapper opened up about his fight against the voices in his head, the self-doubt, and the loss of identity. The subject was definitely heavy and personal. While the goal of telling a proper story reflecting one’s art is to sometimes highlight the more intense and vulnerable moments, every conversation should also have a lighter tone as well. The following article is Lecrae expounding on his relationships with Kanye West and Rapsody, talking about the Unashamed tour and artists, and finally giving his thoughts about KB […]
Over the years we’ll make a series of stops along this journey we call life. Every time we veer off the road to hit a new destination, it’s an exit we make to start on a new path. As the scenario flashes before our eyes, sometimes we need to just pull over and soak in what’s really happening. For Wande, it’s her time to soak in the sights, and see how far she’s come. But before we get there, the story of how she got to this place is as remarkable as the one on where she’s headed. Wande Wande […]
Sophomore season has officially returned. Sareem Poems and Newselph double back with another single from their upcoming LP. Hip-Hop with witty wordage, beats that boom and distinct direction is what they’re on. Nothing ambiguous or abstract about it. This brand-new sure shot is Hip Hop in its most rich and purest form. Like water with crystals in it. Word to Asa Soltan Rahmati. Newselph’s production consists of a bouncy bass-line that bobs and weaves with an incessant groove. Sareem Poems moonwalks all over the track with Ginsu sharp bar work with blue streaks of ink making every word strick together. […]

On the energetic anthem “All the Way” Legin enlists Eshon Burgundy and producer Cardec Drums to inspire believers in Christ to go the full distance in life and faith. Today, many challenges attempt to derail us from a faithful journey, but our devotion to Christ is essential to completing the race. Legin talks avoiding distractions socially and personally to stay focused on God and family while Eshon speaks of dedication to tough ministry callings despite its difficulty by relying on gospel hope. “All the Way” has an anthem style vibe to move us forward during these tough times and tell […]
