Interview – k-Drama

What do you want to achieve with your new album?
Spiritual Awareness. I want people to take note of the "Little Things" b/c the "Little Things" aren't so little when they add up.

Why did you call it "14 2 Life: Illustrations of Self"
I gave my album the title, "14 2 Life: iLLustrations of Self" because I received Christ at the age of 14. From 14 on, I am a servant of Jesus. Behind this "Sentence", behind my bars I want to give illustrations of myself to show people the way that God has caused me to view various notions. 1 Corinthians 11:1 says to be ye followers of me, even as I also follow Christ. I want people to follow me as I follow Christ through this record.

Who and what inspired you for your lyrics?
The Holy Spirit inspires my lyrics b/c all my lyrics are driven by the Word of God. 2 Tim 3:16 talks about how all scripture is given by inspiration. My lyrics are based off my various encounters in life and how the Word of God enables me to succeed in my daily exercises. I wouldn't be the emcee that I am today without paradigms such as manCHILD & Mr. Real.

What is your favorite song in the album?
My favorite song on the album is "Urgency." I believe that Urgency is my favorite song b/c it is the song that is most personal to me. As people follow me over the years, I will start to bring some of my trials out of the closet (trials that are out of my hands) so that they can minister to those who are in the same situation with their parents, friends, etc. Then people will understand the fulness of that song.

Who are the guest appearances on "14 2 Life: Illustration of Self"?
manCHILD of Mars iLL came through Theory Hazit's studio to drop, "School of Thought." manCHILD is one tall dude. Theory Hazit (who has produced Mars Ill, Listener, Playdough, 2Five, Nu Breed, Braille, Scribbling Idiots & more) & Wonder Brown help me get Crunk on "Throw The Chairs in the Church." Jay Tha Kid (the 2nd producer on TCR) assists me on, "I'm Tired." Up & Coming artist mTribs helps me get some stuff off my chest and laugh on, "I'm Busy." Bracey attributes great agility with his vocals on "Love Life" which is produced by the Phenom Tony Stone. My future wife Charde Campbell gives annointed vocals on "Midnight Love." Rhyme Slayer Kurrect aka Ben Beamon gives Thoughtful lyrics on "I may not feel the same."

What are your goals for this year (2005)?
To grow more spiritually. I want to be closer to God than I've ever been in my life. I want to know who Jesus really is. I want to see my artist excel. TCR is currently working on a few deals (the public will see soon). Even if the deal doesn't go down, a great deal of exposure will be brought our way. God is awesome.

How did you start This Click Records?
I started TCR back in August of 99 after nobody would sign me (I was super wack & I'm glad nobody signed me). But the ambition that I had to make it was so high that I said, "If nobody signs me, I'll just sign myself." I got in contact with the small business bureau of Ohio, filled out the paperwork, & the rest is history.

If you could have anyone on your album, who would it be?
hmmmmmm. Mr. Real (and that's about to come true)

What was the best thing that happened in your music career?
2005 Holy Hip Hop Awards. When I rapped Friday, the annointing was thick & the HHH staff was so impressed that they asked me to rap a 2nd time on Saturday with the more established acts. I impressed them once again Saturday & they ask me to participate at the Holy Hip Hop Concert going down during GMA Week (formerly the Dove Awards). It's going to be such an honor to minister alongside Corey Red & Precise, DA T.R.U.T.H., & more.

Are you working on any projects?
Yes. I am working on several. I have contributed production to Bobby Bishop on his new release, "Government Name" releasing March 22nd on Beatmart/Warner Bros. Also, I have contributed production on Rob Hodge's prequel CD's & you'll find me rapping with Rob Hodge on the double disk. Mr. D-Note & I have done a song together last week for his new project, "Hybernation" releasing March 29th. Rhymes Elect & I are talking about a collaboration. You will find me on various mixtapes, compilations, & possibly 3 big projects releasing nationally this year!!! God is opening so many doors. And as for TCR? We are working on a new compilation album that'll probably release in May. Serious Series Volume 3 will release this spring/summer for FREE!!! Ben Beamon, mTribs, J-City, Bracey, & newcomers Patch 1 & Trademark are all working on solo projects.

What do you do besides Hip Hop?
I am a mentor and I work with kids a lot voluntarily. I am considered a "Future Pastor" by a lot of people so that maybe a future for me if I'm called.
