Content: Malice does a great job of cataloging his life story in this book. He starts at what seems to be the defining moment in his life. Anxiety, fear and doubt are plaguing him. Malice is brutally honest about the music business, his sex life and family. He doesn’t slander people in the book even when they have not been the most supportive about his decisions. Instead, he takes the blame for all of his wrong decisions. He did a great job of censoring his life without being too vague or too explicit. The content of the book is very tasteful yet real.
Writing: Keep in mind that this is a rapper writing and not a trained writer. The book is extremely easy to read. If you are looking for a good book to hand a 15 or 65 year old they will both be able to enjoy this book. It’s a page turner!
Biblical: This is a memoir, it is not a scholarly exposition of Malice’s life. He does an exceptional job of using scripture to express what he was going through. He was able to locate himself through the biblical narrative and keep the reader engaged without being “preachy” or using “Christianese” language.
Malice lays it all on the line. However, you don’t get the full story. The ending leaves you wanting to read the next book for the intentional missing pieces. Wretched, Pitiful, Poor, Blind and Naked is a great book for the thugs and the intellectuals. With Malice’s street credibility in the entertainment industry, non-Christians and Christians alike will enjoy this book. It’s a great bridge between the streets and the church. Malice not only paints the picture of his former lifestyle, he exposes the consequences. Mr. Me 2 decided to welcome Christ into his life and pick up his cross as a vocal servant of the Kingdom of God in an industry that completely disregards the God he serves.
All the praises of this book are true. Malice delivers the goods in this debut book like he never has. I look forward to hearing more from Malice and seeing what the Lord does with his story.
