Can Christian hip-hop make it in Green Country's urban markets? If local rapper Fedel has anything to do with it, yes it can.
Last week, his newly minted single, "Tell a Friend," was voted the No. 1 song on Tulsa's 105.3 KJamz nightly top eight countdown. "Being that I'm a Christian artist — a Christian hip-hop artist at that — this is a huge accomplishment that I don't take for granted," he said in a recent e-mail to the Tulsa World. He thanks primetime DJ, Ramal, for the break.

Braille also announced that every now and then he is going to throw rough drafts, features and exclusives up on his myspace. Sharing new music fresh after he creates it.

The crowd screams as the young, but clearly seasoned artist known as Canton Jones points the microphone toward the audience and another unforgettable musical experience begins…Add a comment

In January of 2008, gospel rapper Lavoisier released an explosive video on YouTube that quickly became the center of controversy among hip hop supporters and detractors alike. The fifteen minute video, entitled “Rap Terrorist Goes To School,” featured Lavoisier in a Brooklyn, NY school classroom, talking to junior high kids about the integrity of prominent rappers and the validity of their lyrics. Artists including T.I., Nas, and 50 Cent were quoted and openly discussed with sixth and seventh graders, who represent a large and overlooked fan base of impressionable young listeners. The video drew both praise and criticism, including responses from those within the Hip Hop industry.Add a comment
