The Harvard Divinity School and Harambee, an organization for students of African descent, presented "The Hip-Hop and Religion Forum" as its final event to celebrate Black History Month. Six panelists from Islamic and Christian backgrounds discussed the effect of hip-hop on youth culture and perspectives on hip-hop varied from critical to enthusiastically supportive.

Christian disc jockey DJ Lady Grace opened the panel with a rap rhyme from Christian rap artist Corey Red to demonstrate her theory that musicians today should not do both religious and secular songs, because the genres convey contradictory messages.

Syntax Records hit the big screen recently with Universal Pictures' romantic comedy Definitely Maybe starring Ryan Reynolds (Just Friends) and Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine). The film features two songs from Syntax's own Night Owls vol. 1: Nocturnal Doctrine and Fashion Expo: Round1: TruHipHop. Listen close to get an earful from these albums during selected scenes.

Last Thursday, five panelists discussed what hip-hop is and what it isn't at the fifth annual NAACP/IMPACT Forum in Constitution Hall. "We are just trying to analyze hip-hop," said McKenzie Bruner, sophomore vice-president of NAACP.

The four topics discussed were what hip-hop is, hip-hop and its influence on youth, misogyny in hip-hop and Christian rap vs. worldly rap.

Always on a musical mission, Braille has become one of rap’s best-kept secrets. He has released three solo albums; performed throughout the U.S., Europe and Japan with artists like the late James Brown, De La Soul and others; been named one of the “Next 100” by URB magazine; and collaborated with rap heavyweights such as 9th Wonder and Pigeon John. All of these accomplishments set the stage for Braille’s fourth album The IV Edition, set for release April 15 on Syntax Records/KOCH Entertainment.

EMI recording artist Urban D. is premiering his new music video "Home" on the Gospel Music Channel on Feb. 23rd @ 8pm EST on the "Kitchen Sink" show.  The song features an up-tempo beat with an R&B flavor as it features Bobby Tinsley.

Producer Rockwilder is planning to take his award winning music to enter the world of Christian Hip-Hop, he said.

In an interview with Movement TV, the Grammy Award winning producer said he has become bored with the current state of Hip-Hop music and will be returning to his roots in the church.
