The Harvard Divinity School and Harambee, an organization for students of African descent, presented "The Hip-Hop and Religion Forum" as its final event to celebrate Black History Month. Six panelists from Islamic and Christian backgrounds discussed the effect of hip-hop on youth culture and perspectives on hip-hop varied from critical to enthusiastically supportive.
Christian disc jockey DJ Lady Grace opened the panel with a rap rhyme from Christian rap artist Corey Red to demonstrate her theory that musicians today should not do both religious and secular songs, because the genres convey contradictory messages.

Marlon Anderson of the New York Mets had an interview with RecordOnline.com Times Herald-Record. In the interview he was asked what music he listens to and his answer was: "Christian hip-hop, by artists that no one in this room has ever heard of."

Last Thursday, five panelists discussed what hip-hop is and what it isn't at the fifth annual NAACP/IMPACT Forum in Constitution Hall.
