Applejaxx will release a new mixtape: Databass this April 2008. The mixtape features collaborations with: Macho of the Tunnel Rats, Gibraan, Nuncio, Soul P, Jekob of the Washington Projects, U.K.(Underground Kitty), Omega of Nureau Ink and the Quad-Click. The debut release is due out later in 2008.

More than 300 people participated in The New Conspirators Conference last week that brought together hip-hoppers, community workers, and mainline pastors who all were looking for new ways to connect the new generation with Jesus Christ.
Attendees were greeted with an urban atmosphere Saturday morning when rap and hip-hop gospel songs were shared for worship at the conference. Ohmega Watts, a Christian hip-hop producer and vocalist, sang while two people were break dancing behind him, according to conference attendee Jonathan Brink in his blog.Click here to read the article
The logic was that by selling crack cocaine to his mother Woodbridge resident Christian Love would keep her off the streets and safe. "Streetwise, I've sold drugs since I was 9," said Love, who was raised in Washington, D.C. His mother, Melody Love, who now lives in Capitol Heights, Md., has been a crack addict since he was a child, Love said.
The story has a happy ending.
On March 2, Love, now a full-time Christian rapper, celebrated the release of his first album, "The Awakening." It was also his birthday and marked the first year his mother has been off drugs.

Music has provided the means for George Moss to communicate on a number of fronts. And with last week's release of his first solo CD, the Grand Rapids native has yet another outlet to display his passion for expressions of faith.
"It wasn't so much the music itself, why I got into it," Moss, 25, said from his Kentwood home. "It was an opportunity to grow and share my faith from that platform."
His new CD, "All or Nothing," is a collection of original Christian rap/hip-hop grooves -- produced with a host of local talent -- that already has generated a hit song. Click here to read the article

The Harvard Divinity School and Harambee, an organization for students of African descent, presented "The Hip-Hop and Religion Forum" as its final event to celebrate Black History Month. Six panelists from Islamic and Christian backgrounds discussed the effect of hip-hop on youth culture and perspectives on hip-hop varied from critical to enthusiastically supportive.
Christian disc jockey DJ Lady Grace opened the panel with a rap rhyme from Christian rap artist Corey Red to demonstrate her theory that musicians today should not do both religious and secular songs, because the genres convey contradictory messages.
