Bubba Watson Drops Christmas Hip Hop Video “Bubbaclaus”

Bubba Watson, formerly with the rap group Golf Boys, had his debut single “Bubbaclaus” premiere on ESPN this Tuesday.

“I got to thank God, he’s the reason I made it / I thank him every day for the moves that I’m making / Thank you baby Jesus, he was born in a manger / ‘cause he knew when I was born I was going to need a savior,” Watson says on the song.

Watson, who also competes on the PGA Tour, had released his first two music videos with fellow golfers Ben Crane, Rickie Fowler and Hunter Mahan in 2011 and 2013 — “Oh Oh Oh” and “2.Oh.” The songs combined for over 11 million views on YouTube.

“Bubbaclaus,” Watson’s first Christian hip-hop song, was written by St. Louis rapper Thi’sl, who also makes a cameo appearance and announces a new alias, “Tyga Hood.” Watson, the winner of the 2012 and 2014 Masters Tournaments, also made an appearance on New York rapper Andy Mineo’s song “Michael Jackson,” track No. 14 of the album Formerly Known.

This year’s third annual Bubba’s Bash, a charity event hosted by the Bubba Watson Foundation, featured Lecrae, Andy Mineo, Thi’sl and Fedel. At the event, Watson announced that he wanted to pursue a rap career in the future. Those in attendance assumed he was joking.

The music video for “Bubbaclaus,” shot in Orlando at motocross racer Bubba Stewart’s home, was directed by Will Thomas, who also directed Derek Minor’s recent music videos for “Who You Know” and “Lose Your Mind.”
