ThaKiddJopp Apologizes to Lecrae at Unashamed Conference 2013

In an encouraging display of affirmation and reconciliation, artist ThaKiddJopp used the UAC workshop to unashamedly apologize to Lecrae for the song that started extensive controversy withon Christian Hip Hop earlier this year. Jopp gained widespread attention for his “Open Letter to Lecrae” song, which acted as a critique of the Reach Records artist’s current ministry philosophy. The mea culpa came during a workshop session today featuring Json, Sho Baraka, shai linne and Lecrae centered on differing philosophies of using art for the glory of God. Despite the intense debate and fervor this divide has created, the panel of artists deftly navigated the harsh terrain by using the Bible as their only roadmap. While this act may seem small to some, it was a strong gesture to many others of the love and respect that all Christians should seek to model towards each other, even in the midst of strong disagreements. Big ups to Jopp and the crew of artists for providing this helpful model of unity!
