DC Talk’s Intermission is Over…Sort of

Last week we reported that DC Talk (TobyMac, Kevin Max, and Michael Tait) had a HUGE announcement set for May 11th. Well, today is May 11th and the results of that announcement have not been received well at all.

The hype around DC Talk’s potential reunion, tour, album was pretty much shut down today when a video announced it will be a five day Jesus Freak Cruise from July 11 – 15 2017.

The video left fans clamoring for something more with roughly of 80% of fans being disappointed by the much longed for DC Talk reunion. Comments ranged from, “I can’t afford this” to “This alienates 99% of your fans.”

Kevin Max responded on his Facebook page encouraging followers to discuss the news. He essentially said, “Don’t shoot the messenger” and posted the following message:

“From dctalk camp: ‘This is a give back that we wanted to do–we wanted it to be intimate and special. More intimate than an arena tour could ever be. It embraces what we are doing and what we have done. We are excited about both. Who knows what the future holds’.”

Interestingly enough, it appears this wasn’t directly orchestrated by the members of DCT. Audio Adrenaline was twice resurrected by “management,” and the Newsboys were paired with Michael Tait under “management.” This may have been the case here and they just signed off on it.

The video said, “It’s been 16 years…the intermission is over.” Perhaps the cruise is just the start of what’s to come, especially since the reaction was so negative.

Regardless of what happened, the cruise looks to have a solid lineup of DC Talk, Newsboys, Finding Favour, Capital Kings, Ryan Stevenson, Hollyn, and then solo sets by TobyMac and Kevin Max.

The MSC Divina cruise will depart from Miami and visit the Bahamas and Half Moon Cay (Private Island). Standard tickets range from $699 to $2000.
