Lecrae wins at 2015 Billboard Music Awards

Lecrae wasn’t finished adding trophies to his mantel this year.

On Sunday, he won Top Christian Album at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards for Anomaly, which earned the nod over Casting Crowns’ Thrive, MercyMe’s Welcome to the New, NEEDTOBREATHE’s Rivers in the Wasteland and Chris Tomlin’s Love Ran Red. The Reach Records artist also competed for Top Christian Artist, but Hillsong United won.

Earlier this year, Lecrae won his second Grammy Award — this time in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song category for “Messengers.” The following month, his album Anomaly won him his third Stellar Award for Rap/Hip-Hop CD of The Year.

This year marked the second time that Lecrae received a Billboard Music Awards nomination. In 2013, his album Gravity competed for Top Christian Album, but it lost to tobyMac’s Eye On It.
