Rawsrvnt (Eddy Puyol) is starring on a new reality TV show, Donald J. Trump presents The Ultimate Merger. The show, featuring 90's platinum R&B artist Al B. Sure!, Akon's protégé the up-and-coming Ray Lavender, and Rawsrvnt, is about twelve bachelors looking to win the heart of Omarosa as she searches for her soul-mate. The show is scheduled to air on June 17, 2010 at 9PM EST on TV One Network (more details on the show here). Here's a short interview we had with Rawsrvnt about his appearance in the reality show.
How did Donald Trump find out about you?
Mr. Trump's production team sought after a Christian rapper and found me via Rapzilla.com.
What was your initial reaction?
When Phil from Rapzilla.com called me and asked me if I wanted to be a part of TV One's new reality TV show, I laughed. I thought he was joking. He quickly told me that he was serious. Donald J. Trump's production team really did contact him and asked him if he knew of any good looking, single, Christian rappers that wanted to be a part of this new reality TV show. He joked with me and thought it was funny that he had to think through a list of qualified Christian rappers in order to find one that wasn't married. (Smile).
I thought it was kind of odd that they wanted a Christian rapper to be on the show because Christian rappers don't typically get a lot of love in the mainstream world. I'm always down to blaze a trial and show folks what a man whose in love with Jesus looks like. (Smile). After praying about it, consulting with my family, pastors, and friends, I pursued the opportunity. I felt honored that God would call me to represent not only Him but the movement I'm a part of. It was so cool to be involved with a reality TV show where I was able to stand out and show that God's love anything but ordinary.
Were you able to share your faith?
Of course I was. That's why they wanted me on the show. They wanted me for what I stand for, for what I believe in. You see, I believe what the Bible says is true. The world does wait in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed, even on reality TV. I'm so glad that I was able to go on the show and display to the world what a son of God looks like.
Often times the church likes to stay in their 'holy huddles' and not go into the world to share the good news that Jesus loves us just the way we are. Since coming to understand that His love won't leave us the way it found us, my life has been forever changed. It felt great being able to share this unconditional love with my potential mate while letting viewers all over the globe see what a man that loves Jesus really looks like.
