Devin Turner previews next album, talks pastoring in Washington, D.C.

Pastor/rapper Devin Turner talked with Rapzilla at Flavor Fest 2015 about his next LP, which will be released in 2016.

Turner also shared about leading a church in Washington, D.C., as well as how that will influence his next project. He dropped his debut album, Now Or Never, in Sept. 2014.

“I live in a ‘challenged community,’ or ‘the hood,’ as they call it,” Turner said. “Since [I moved there], my wife’s car’s been shot, a dude high on PCP crashed into my vehicles and totaled both my vehicles. Pastoring in D.C., man, it’s a big gap between the haves and the have nots. So at our church, we have people who are ex-prostitutes, ex-drug dealers, some people just reentered society from incarceration. Then we have affluent people who work on Capitol Hill, all coming together worshiping Christ.

“Because of those different factors in my life, what I’ve had to learn is to be fearless.”
