‘Back to the Future’ in Christian hip hop

Today — Oct. 21, 2015 — is the day Marty McFly went to the future in the 1989 movie Back to the Future II. In honor of the day, Rapzilla has amassed some of Christian hip hop’s most notable Back to the Future references.

Earlier this month, Applejaxx released an entire free EP inspired by Back to the Future, titled Jesus High 3: McFly.

This August, Serge released a music video for his song “Old and New,” track No. 2 of his 2014 free album Off Season. The intro and interlude of the video use clips from Back to the Future.

This past March, Chris Cobbins released a song that, like Applejaxx’s project, references a main character in Back to the Future, “McFly,” which is track No. 2 of his EP August Season (Take One).

Marty McFly is also named in the hook of W.L.A.K.’s 2013 song, “ABNY,” track No. 8 of the collective’s self-titled album.

Finally, Jamar Knight, formerly known as JMartyr, dropped an album several years ago that also was entirely Back to the Future-themed titled, Back From the Future.
