Top unsigned artists aiming to release new projects this summer

More warmth and new Christian hip-hop projects are coming.

Summer is just about a month away, and not many artists have announced that they will release music during the season. Many are in the studio, though, and aiming to do so.

This month, Rapzilla ran down who’s next to release new music on Christian hip-hop’s top labels. Below is a list of top unsigned artists who plan to drop new projects this summer.

Sho Baraka

Sho Baraka released his first music in a while this April. He and musician James Portier teamed up for the song “Insecure (Maybe),” which Sho told Rapzilla could be followed by an entire album this summer.

His previous effort, Talented 10th, lived up to the sky-high hype. If Sho’s next does the same, it will be in the album-of-the-year conversation.

Thi’sl

Thi’sl hasn’t kept the fact that he’s been recording a mixtape — which will likely be titled The Come Up — a secret on social media.

This will be the first project that the St. Louis rapper has released since the death of Michael Brown and the Ferguson, Missouri riots. The tragedy surrounding Trayvon Martin inspired Thi’sl’s latest album, Fallen King. His mixtape is sure to also feature weighty content.

Marty of Social Club

Social Club just released one of the most anticipated albums in Christian hip hop this year in March, but the duo isn’t done dropping new music in 2015 — not even close. Marty told Rapzilla that he may drop his retail debut as a solo artist as early as this summer.

Reconcile

Reconcile told Rapzilla that his first project since he signed a production deal with Track of Die could be out by this summer. He released his first song under the production team, “Plottin,” in February.
