Shepherd Announces ‘The Intern’ Album, Preorder, Artwork, & First Single

A week after Hollywood, Florida native Shepherd released his debut retail EP Maverick Soul, the 20-year-old packed his bags for a journey that would completely shape his successive project, an upcoming album titled The Intern.

The Intern is a 10-track Album which will feature JGivens, Serge, Loso and production by COBRA Music Group member JuiceBangers, among others, is the product of Shepherd’s experiences as an urban missionary intern under Legacy Christian Fellowship elder Brian Dye. Shepherd moved to Chicago, Illinois to better learn what it looks like to make disciples, and, on The Intern, he shares his notes from the field.

“I’ve been in a non-stop learning process since I started this internship,” Shepherd said, “which I believe everyone can identify with. Graduation doesn’t halt our growth. In or out of school, buried in books or in daily responsibilities, each of us are interns in some aspect of life. On my new music, I want to share that experience with listeners.”

Shepherd’s journey toward The Intern began three years ago when he visited inner-city South Korea for a mission trip. There he birthed a passion for evangelism, which comes out in The Intern lyrically. Sonically, his Costa Rican heritage and diverse taste of genres give his music a unique flavor among his peers in hip-hop today.

“I want everyone who hears my music feel like they’ve been a part of my story and that I am a part of theirs,” Shepherd said.

Already in his young career, Shepherd has had the opportunity to work with Dre Murray and J. Paul and open up for Derek Minor, Christon Gray, GAWVI, and Sevin. His top single, “The Void” featuring Co Campbell, has accumulated 42,000 streams on Spotify, where he has been featured on playlists created by Spotify and Rapzilla.com.

The album features amazing vocals from artists like Eris Ford & Ro, even containing live audio of missionary work in the hood, as well as production from JuiceBangers.
