Rapzilla.com’s 15 Freshman of 2017

Shiwan

Shiwan may have been named in more articles on Rapzilla.com than any other artist in 2016. He released three free projects (one solo and two with Benjamin Broadway), several singles and a myriad of feature verses.

And his flow is cold. Download those free projects — The List, Quikstrike II and Never The Same — for free on Rapzilla.com.

When did you decide that you wanted to pursue music?

I decided to pursue music when I was in college and was fellowshipping with other Christians there. I always had a love for music but not as a career. That was until God showed me how music is a gift that connects with people in so many different ways, which allowed me pursue this lane.

I started to see that the people who supported my music related to the craft because it was real, transparent and more than music. They saw love, life and God.

What has been the most memorable moment of your career so far?

One of the most memorable moments of my career is when Quikstrike II released because it showed how people all around the world can connect to someone like me. Being from Connecticut where the music scene is really small, it may seem hard to get the music. But it’s all about your passion and originality.

The album was sold in digital stores and played on Hot 97. It also touched my life when I had people come to me and tell me that the album inspired them on a deeper level with God.

What should fans be on the lookout for musically from you in 2017?

Musically, I will be performing at more shows and releasing more video content, a collab project (artist/producer) and full project in the spring or summer.
