Liberty University Basketball Dunk Ministry Shatter Backboards to 116 Songs

Liberty University’s SOAR Dunk ministry went viral last night after a video surfaced of the basketball squad shattering a backboard while bumping the 116 song “Now They Know.”

The Christian college’s ministry travels around to different youth rallies, events, churches, to show off some acrobatic trampoline filled dream dunks to wow audiences and spread the gospel.

However, on a trip to Central Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Virginia a series of pass back jump maneuvers ended with the final guy shattered the backboard of the gymnasium’s basketball hoop.

Below is what a normal non-backboard shattering routine looks like:

The mission of SOAR Dunk is listed on their site and best explained by them: “As Liberty University’s most unconventional ministry team, S.O.A.R. is a high-flying dunk basketball team that uses acrobatic maneuvers off of trampolines to dazzle crowds of all ages. Perfect for youth groups, pep rallies, school assemblies/chapels and various sporting events, S.O.A.R. is not afraid of flying high above the rim, nor boldly sharing their faith in Jesus Christ while using their own worship style.”

116’s “Now They Know” featuring Lecrae, Andy Mineo, KB, Tedashii, and Derek Minor.

Lastly, no one broke backboards better than the Big Diesel himself, Shaquille O’Neil.
