S.O.G. Crew’s Robert Ornelas running for Lt. Governor of California

Have the Democratic and Republican Parties become irrelevant? Thatʼs what the gubernatorial team of Robert Newman and Robert Ornelas claims, and it seems that at least some Californians are listening. Robert Newman will be a candidate for Californiaʼs governor in 2014. His running mate, Robert Ornelas, is running for Lt. Governor. This election, however, is shaping up to be far from politics as usual. In fact, “politics as usual” is shaping up to be a major theme of the race. During a recent series of campaign stops in San Jose, Castroville, and Sacramento, Newman and Ornelas challenged their listeners to consider the mess that has become their home state. Jobs, businesses, and wealth are leaving California, family income is dropping, unemployment remains high, taxes are increasing, the public schools rate 47th in the nation, liberties are shrinking as regulations increase, and morals are being eroded. “So, whoʼs to blame?” the candidates ask. “Well, whoʼs been in charge for the last several decades? The Republicans and Democrats. Theyʼre both responsible for this mess, and theyʼre offering nothing but more of the same bad medicine that made us sick in the first place. Itʼs clear they canʼt help us. Itʼs clear we canʼt trust them.” Newman and Ornelas urged listeners to abandon traditional party politics and tell the Democrats and Republicans, “Youʼre fired! We deserve better!” Itʼs time for a fresh, new approach, they argue. A key element of their message is to return control of the peoplesʼ lives to the people themselves. “We have set up a system where some of the most important areas of your lives are controlled by your boss, your union, and — especially — your government. Why should they be in control of your lives? Why not you?” the candidates ask. If the crowdʼs reaction is any indication, the Republican and Democratic Parties may be in for the race of their lives in 2014. Whatever the outcome, the Newman-Ornelas Team promises to stir things up and make the 2014 campaign one to remember.
